I came a across the name Wheeler as a soldier killed in the Middle East. I could not help think of Milt Wheeler from back home in Allentown. Your father was my principal and little league coach. He was a great man and I missed him when he moved from our town. I often thought of him and hoped everything worked out for him and his family.

We were saddened to hear of Mr. Wheeler's passing. As you know, he was one of the best teachers we ever had at Haverling. He inspired me in my 35+ year as an American History teacher at Watkins Glen High School. And, always were delighted to see him at our WG wrestling meets and football games when Jeff was a teacher here. He never forgot who we were and what class we were in. What an amazing memory, as well as being a great teacher. Sorry we weren't able to attend the calling hours or funeral service---we were away for Easter weekend. We send our deepest sympathies to all of your family. ----Nick and Sue Dugo, Class of '63

I graduated in 1962 and had Mr. Wheeler as my history teacher and class adviser. I want his family to know what a wonderful teacher he was. It was a unanimous vote to dedicate our yearbook to him. I still remember him so fondly and it has been 50 years!

To the entire Wheeler Family,
We send our deepest sympathy and prayers to all of you. Both our families go back a long way...from the little village of Allentown to the shores of Lake Nosbonsing...we came to know and love a man of true integrity, and also a wonderful sense of humor...Milt Wheeler. He was a friend and neighbor to both the Allen and Rainer families, always ready to lend a helping hand to all. We will always remember his stories, jokes and all the nicknames he assigned to each and every one of us, as only he could...we will remember him fondly, always. To Mrs. Wheeler and all his wonderful children, our friends, we send our deepest sympathy, prayers and love,
Mary Ann, Jim & Jenny Allen

Dear Mrs. Wheeler,
I graduated from Haverling in 1965 and your husband was one of my teachers. He was an outstanding instructor and role model. I went on to major in American Studies at Colgate before medical school. His class room was warm and inviting. Many students returned to visit him there. I can still see him dressed professionally with the P-38 model on the desk, ready with a firm handshake, a smile and a sincere interest in our lives.
While he will be missed by many he will also continue on in the lives of all those who knew him. Please extend my condolences to your family.

To Wilma and the entire Wheeler Family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. Milt was a remarkable teacher and a teriffic human being. You all should be very proud of Milt for his many accomplishments in life, but perhaps even more important is how Milt and Wilma raised all of their kids to become successful adults. He lived a long and produvctive life and he will be sorely missed.

To the Wheeler family,
We were saddened at the passing of Mr. Wheeler. I (Rick) will always remember him as a teacher of American History many, many years ago. There he stood at his lectern, riveting his students with his lectures and discussions. At the end of class, he would slap the front of the lectern with an open hand, and with a smile say, "See you tomorrow!" He was a brilliant man who had the ability to touch people's lives through his patience, knowledge and understanding. He never judged and always gave his students a fair shake.
I used to sit in his class thinking that if I ever became a teacher, I would hope to be just like him. When I did become a teacher, I emulated him and would often ask myself, "Now what would Mr. Wheeler do in this situation?"
I am honored to have been one of his students and to have known him in his many roles throughout his life.
We also always enjoyed visiting with him at the soccer field, where he would pick on our little black dog, Doc, for being too short and not very handsome!
We will all miss him, but his legacy will live on.
Our deepest sympathies to all of you.
