Obituary of Alberta A. Carey

Alberta "Betty" A. Carey, age 93, of Albion, NY and formerly of Bath, NY, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at the Medina Memorial Hospital, Medina, NY. She was born October 25, 1919 in Minersville PA the daughter of Frank and Julia Shuppas Komelasky. She married Bruce R. Carey in 1947. Mrs. Carey retired from the Bath VAMC after 30 years of service as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the St. Mary's Church in Bath, Bath Country Club and NARFE. She volunteered for 15 years at St. Mary's Church and at the Bath VA Library for 15 years. She is survived by two daughters, Debbie (Michael) Groden of Waterport, NY and Diane (Robert) Eade of Rochester, NY; grandchildren, Paul (Maria) Eade of Rochester, Carrie Eade of Rochester, Sarah MacCallum (Thomas Cox) of Holley, NY, Scott MacCallum of Buffalo and James MacCallum of Waterport, great grandchildren Benjamin and Jacob, sister-in-law Marge Komelasky of Philadelphia, PA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 63 years Bruce Carey; two brothers, Charles and George Komelasky and sister-in-law Jean Temple. Friends may call on Sunday May 19, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 20, 2013 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Bath with Reverend Pat Connor presider assisted by Deacon Dave Lafortune. A graveside service will follow at the Bath National Cemetery. The family will provide flowers, and suggests memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Carey's name to the St. Mary's Youth Fund, 32 East Morris Street, Bath, NY 14810 and the Dormann Library, 101 West Morris Street, Bath, NY 14810.
