Obituary of Benjamin J. Balcer

Benjamin ‘BG’J. Balcer, age 68, of Hornell, NY, died Thursday, November 7, 2013 at the McAuley Manor in Hornell. He was born May 4, 195 in Bath, NY the son of Benjamin and Julie Ilnicki Balcer. Benjamin worked at the Steuben ARC for many years. He was a frequent participator in the Special Olympics, and won many trophies for his competitions. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed cheering for the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills. Benjamin loved his family and friends very much and he will be missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Michael Balcer. He is survived by his sister-in-law Jeanette Balcer of Bath, Uncle Jim Felker of Savona, NY, Uncle John Ilnicki of Corning, NY, Uncle Frederick Ilnicki of Markel, IN; special cousins, Stella King and Shirley Serdula of Coopers Plains, NY and several other cousins and special friends. Friends and family are invited to call on Tuesday November 12, 2013 from 10:00-11:00 am at St. Mary’s Church, 32 East Morris Street in Bath. A funeral Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 am with Reverend Pat Connor as celebrant assisted by Deacon Dave Lafortune. Burial will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Bath.
