Obituary of Nancy Jean Dyer

Bath- Nancy Jean Dyer, age 77, of Snell Hill Road, Bath, NY died on December 27, 2013 at Robert Packard Hospital, in Sayre, PA. She was born on November 25, 1936, and was the daughter of Lloyd and Fanny Mae (Davis) Ormsby. Nancy graduated from Haverling High school in 1954. After graduation she married her sweetheart Roger Dyer on August 1, 1954. They celebrated 59 years of marriage. Roger and Nancy loved square dancing and were longtime members and presidents of the Champagne Whirlaways Club. They had even danced in Europe. She was a longtime member of the Towlesville Grange and always enjoyed baking and cooking. Nancy helped on the farm, worked at Haverling Central School in the cafeteria and was the secretary to the Principal. She also worked for The Steuben County Transfer Station as a Scale Operator.
Surviving Nancy, her husband, Roger Dyer, Bath, NY, three sons, Ronald (Theresa) Dyer, Richard Dyer both of Bath, NY, Gregory Dyer of Raleigh, NC. Grandchildren, Heather (Joe) Capluzzi, Melissa (Gregory) Houck, Jennifer and Patrick Dyer, Bradly and Brittany Dyer. Great grandchildren, Alyssa and Lauren Capluzzi, Jacob and Emma Houck, Hunter Dyer. Siblings, Richard (Janette) Ormsby of Wilawauma, FL, William (Rose) Ormsby of Bath, NY, Harry Ormsby of Sarasota, FL, Delores Morse of Montour Falls, NY, Bonnie (William) Kastner of Bath, NY. Many more family and friends.
Predeceased by her sister, Mary Habberfield.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2013 from 1PM-3PM and 6PM-8PM at Fagan’s Funeral Home in Bath, NY. The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at 11AM at Fagan’s, Kitty Ormsby officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Towlesville, NY. In lieu of flowers the family has requested the donations be made in Nancy’s name to The American Cancer Society, 1120 Goodman Street, Rochester, NY 14620 or to a charity of one’s choice.
