Obituary of Michael R. Bocek

Michael R. Bocek, age 82, of Savona, NY died Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. He was born May 9, 1931 in Scranton, PA the son of the late Michael R. and Mary Shutrick Bocek. He was an Army Veteran. Mr. Bocek retired from Corning, Inc. after 45 years of employment. He was a member of the V.F.W. 1470 in Bath and a member of the American Legions in Bath and Wayne. Mr. Bocek was also a member of St. Stanislaus Church in Bradford, the Knights of Columbus Council 5147 and the Keuka Lake Association. He was an avid hunter and Keuka Lake trout fisherman. He was a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his son, James (Susan) Bocek of Savona, NY; two daughters, Pat Bocek (Joan Schulze) of Loveland, CO and Stephanie (Scott) Craig of Bath, NY; five grandchildren, Timothy (Tammy) Bocek, Kristen (Justin) Kahn, Lynn Craig, Lee Craig and David Bocek, great grandson, Alexander James Bocek, brother Richard (Rita) Bocek and sister, Elizabeth Aftuck. He was predeceased by his wife Rose Marie Smolos Bocek in December 1999 and his sister Barbara Bedient. Friends may call on Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 1:00-3:00 pm at St. Stanislaus Church in Bradford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 3:00 pm at the church. Burial with military honors will be held on Monday, January 20th at 11:00 am in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Bath. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Arc of Steuben, 1 Arc Way, Bath, NY 14810 and Sts. Isidore and Maria Torribia Parish, 51 Maple Street, Addison, NY 14801.
