Obituary of Gerald P. Karns

Gerald P. Karns, Sr., age 58, of Avoca, NY, died Friday, April 18, 2014 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. He was born September 10, 1955, in Bath, NY, the son of Donald P. and Mary Lou (Johnson) Karns. He was a Truck Driver for the Town of Urbana. Mr. Karns was active for many years coaching Bath Little League. He held many positions with the Pack and Troop 59 Boy Scouts and he enjoyed bowling. He also was one of the founding members of the American Legion Riders Bath Chapter. He is survived by his wife Elvira Karns; sons Gerald Karns Jr. and Ryan Karns, daughter Stacy Karns; two grandchildren, London Green and Emma Karns, brothers, Donald Karns and Ed Karns, sister Donna Lou Tiede; half brothers, Donald Karns, Daniel Karns and Dennis Karns; step brothers, Robert, Russell and Roy Travis, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Mary Karns, brother James Karns and step father Robert Travis. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday April 23, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home, 31 West Morris St., Bath, NY. Funeral services will follow at 4:00 pm at the funeral home with Chaplain Bob Gelder officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Riders, c/o Dennis Oliver, PO Box 361, Bath, NY 14810.
