Obituary of Gertrude Marie Martin

Gertrude Marie Martin, age 97, of Bath, NY, died peacefully at the Steuben Center, surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 21, 2019. She was the beloved mother to her children; Guy (Dorina) Martin Jr., Rena (Roger) Ruest, Doris Doucette, Philip (Nancy) Martin, Theresa Beckstead and Judy Arndt, and is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Diane Martin and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her children, Linda Martin, Delbert Martin and Pauline Martin, brother Wilfred Bard and two sisters, Carmel O'Brien and Aline Clair. Gertrude was born in Presque Isle, Maine on February 6, 1922, the daughter of the late Belonie and Flora (Violette) Jambard. She had worked at Cary Memorial Hospital in Carabou, ME, in housekeeping for several years. She retired from the Steuben County Health Care facility of Bath, where she worked in the Dietary Department. She was a parishoner at St. Mary's Church in Bath and had volunteered at Lakeview Apartments for several years. She was a wonderful mother and always thought of her children first. She will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Family and friends are invited to call at St. Mary's Church on Monday, December 23,2019 from 9:00-11:00 am with a Mass of christian burial at 11:00 am, celebrated by Father Lewis Brown. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her name may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice.
