Barbara Wood Kraft, 86, of Bath, NY, died Friday, March 13th, at Taylor Health Center. Barbara was born in Tioga, PA to Leon and Hazel Wood on 3/19/1933. She went to high school at Williamson High and graduated in 1951. She went on to earn a diploma in nursing from Arnot School of Nursing in 1955. She worked at the Bath Hospital/Ira Davenport Hospital for 20 years, first as a staff nurse then an ICU nurse before she went to the VA. At this time, she became certified as a geriatric nurse practitioner. She enjoyed animals, kids, the beach, and making jewelry with her youngest daughter, Karen. She was involved in church at First Baptist of Avoca, especially in the Awana program once her brood was grown and gone. Barb is survived by her husband, Donald Kraft of Bath, one sister, Ann Truax of Avon Park, Fl., children, Jane Jones of Bath, Kyla (Don) Lester of Avoca, Kimrae (John) Alsheimer of Interlaken, Kendell (Mary Ann) Kraft of Forest, VA, Karen (David) Devolder of Canisteo, Kevin (Sharon) Kraft of Kansas City, MO and Kory (Jennifer) Kraft of Sewell, NJ. The grandchildren are Ivy (James) Conklin of Bath, Albert L Jones Jr of Elmira, Katina Jones-Waples of Camden, NJ, Elizabeth Jones of Reno, NV, Charmine (Darrin) Warriner of Ithaca, Krisonda (Cody) Hosmer of Liberty, NC, Jonathan (Jaime) Alsheimer of Fredericksburg, VA, Dan (Christy) Alsheimer of Rochester, NY, Zach (Keleigh) Alsheimer of Holly Springs, NC, Derek Kraft of Washington, DC, Ryan (Chelsea) Kraft of Spotsylvania, VA, Garth (Mary) Lester of Gainesville, FL, Kent Lester of Rochester, NY, Tamara, Tyler, Timothy and Talia Kraft of Kansas City, MO, and Sophia and Christian Kraft plus a number of great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Hazel (Dunning) Wood, and siblings, Joseph Wood, Dorothy Sumner, Paul Wood, Leona Treat, and Betty Colony. To protect the health of members of the family and friends in light of the spread of Corona virus, the funeral has been canceled. At a later date, a celebration of life will be held. Fagan’s Funeral Home has been handling the arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Pastor Bill McFeaters of First Baptist Church of Avoca and the staff of Taylor Health Center who have taken care of Barb on our behalf for nearly 5 years. Many of them became part of her family as well!
