Obituary of Eugene Lauferswiler

Eugene Lauferswiler, age 82, of Bath, NY and formerly of Moravia, NY passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the Steuben Center in Bath, NY. He was born September 21, 1937 in Liberty, NY the son of the late Charles Lauferswiler and Hertha Philips. Eugene married Florence (Kellogg) Durgan on December 31, 1976. He was predeceased by his wife, parents; brothers, Francis Lauferswiler, Charles Jr. and William Hodencamp and his sister Edith Wead. Eugene worked for the Onondaga County Highway Department and then Wal-Mart. He liked attending the church services at the Steuben Center. Eugene was a member of the Volunteer Fire Police with the Locke Fire Department, which he enjoyed for 11 years. He also enjoyed camping, golf, horseshoes, bowling and square dancing with the Cayuga Cut-Ups. He is survived by his brother, Sylvester Lauferswiler, sister Vicki Bickham; three special nieces, "The Boss" Ginny (Bo) Fenton and Amy Yarbrough of Bath, NY and Laurie Hilborn of Savona, NY; step children, Charlene (Tom) Evener-Powers of Auburn, Tim Durgan of Fort Myers, FL, Bonnie Youngs and Casey Blasko both of Verona, NY and many more nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved being Papa Eugene to Matthew and Mark (Jessica) Evener, Jessica and Jeffrey Young and Kasey Durgan and Great Papa to Haleigh, Ryan, Ashleigh and Alexis. A celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family.
