Obituary of Genevieve V. Kashmer

On June 29, 2014 Genevieve's guardian angel picked her up and placed her in the arms of her Best Friend Jesus. She was a very spiritual and joyful person and lived her life to the fullest. She was a caregiver for seven people during her life time, was lead by the Lord to help many people who were in need.
Born in Bradford, NY to Alex and Eleanor Koziatek on July 4, 1921. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, all 9 of her siblings and their spouses, and her sons, Thomas and Jerome who both died at the age of 52 years.
She is survived by her children; Virginia (Michael) Hass with grandchildren, Samuel (Maddie) Hass, Angelica and Norah, Joseph (Bridget) grandsons, Joshua and Dalton, her daughter-in-law, Tonya Kashmer, grandchildren, Sarah (Bill) Moore, Aaron (Katy) and Katie, Richard and grandchildren, Tyler, Kristin and Kendra, and great grandson Hayden and many nieces and nephews who called her the "Rock".
She was a member of St. Mary's Church for over 40 years and a volunteer there for about 30 years working in the rectory, bingo, and coordinator of the Isaiah 43 Mission and a Eucharist minister for many years. She also worked as a volunteer financial counselor for Steuben County called the needs Meals on Wheels, and she volunteered at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital. She retired from the Bath Post Office after many years of service.
Her home was opened to house guests, one from Brazil and another from Africa who was with her for 6 months. She enjoyed learning about their culture in their countries.
She was a member of the Charismatic prayer group for over 30 years and also a member of Narfe for many years.
She was grateful for her special friends who were there at the time of her needs, Alberta Nunn and Nancy Muller Angles, who has been in touch with her almost daily for many years.
One hour of calling will be held on Saturday July 5, 2014 from 9:00-10:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Bath followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Burial will follow in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Bath, NY. Memorial donation may be made to St. Mary's Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.fagansfuneralhome.com.
