Obituary of Philip J. Ruger

Philip Ruger, age 71, of 119 Circle Drive, Bath, NY passed away Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center, after a long battle with Covid-19. Philip was a very loving and devoted husband, father, grampy and friend. He retired from the VA after 30 plus years of service. He was a member of the Charles E. Wescott American Legion Post 173 in Bath, Bath B.P.O.E. 1547, V.F.W. 1470 in Bath and life long member of the Bath Community. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Janet (Presley) Ruger; daughters, Sara (Albert) Ruger of Renton, WA and Bridget (Gregory) Henshaw of Bath, son, Jay (Miranda) Muller of Tennessee, five grandsons, Dylan, Tyler, Ryan and Kyle Henshaw of Bath and Quentin Wong of Renton, WA, sister-in-law, Mary Ruger; brothers-in-law, Edwin Presley and Craig (Judy) Presley and mother-in-law, Barbara Beekman all of Bath, and many life long friends. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lucy (Parulski) Ruger and brother Paul Ruger. Family and friends are invited to the visitation on Thursday, February 18, 2021 from 12:00-2:30 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 3:00 pm at the Bath National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Phil's name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude's.
