Obituary of Caroline O. Case

Caroline O. Frisk Case age 83, of 11 Remington Lane, Pinehurst, NC, packed up her memories and left on March 6, 2021. Carol was born at home on January 31, 1938 at 55 Main Street, Hammondsport, NY, to the late John Lawrence and Caroline Edith (St. John) Frisk, with the assistance of her grandmother, Iva M. St. John.

Carol was very active in high school activities and Girl Scouts, and graduated from Hammondsport Central School in 1956. She then graduated from Del Kader School of Cosmetology in Elmira, NY.

She began attending North Urbana Baptist Church when she was a senior in high school, and became saved in Jesus Christ under the preaching of Pastor Florence T. Perry. Years later, she transferred her letter of membership to Lindley Community Church in Lindley, NY and eventually to Yates Thagard Baptist Church in Carthage, NY.

She was married for 3 years to William Case in 1957, and they resided in Charleston, SC, while he served in the Navy. Later they resided in Pulteney, NY. Carol worked at Westinghouse and at the County Welfare Dept. in Bath, NY. She then graduated from Corning Community College with an A.S. degree. She then transferred to Lock Haven University in Lock Haven, PA, graduating with a B.S. degree. She then graduated from Elmira College in Elmira, NY with a M.S. degree, which all led to her teaching physical education and health in Cattaraugus, NY, and substitute teaching in all subjects all over Steuben, Yates and Chemung Counties, and in North Carolina.

Carol married Ken Barker in 1978 and resided in Warsaw, Poland; Vass, Hungary; Lvov, Russia; Taipei, Taiwan, and Seoul, Korea, from which places she traveled extensively to include approximately 35 countries.

She was a docent for the Rockwell Museum of Western Art, Carter Glass, and Antique Toys in Corning, NY. She was also a docent at the Shaw House in Southern Pines, NC.

Carol joined the Senior Games in NC, winning 31 gold, 5 silver, and one bronze medal.

She worked for 11 years as a detention officer at the Monroe County Jail. After retiring, she worked as a security guard for the National Golf Club for about 1 1/2 years.

Carol is survived by her son Sean O. Case, of Hammondsport, NY; son Michael J. (Jackie) Heming of Port Jefferson Station, NY; grandchildren, Carli and Jake Hemming of Port Jefferson Station and Cassidy Case of Bath, NY, four nieces, a nephew, grand nieces and nephews, great grand nieces and nephews and cousins. Carol was predeceased by her brother Lawrence D. and sister Maxine Y. Frisk.
