Obituary of Gary D. Loucks

Please share a memory of Gary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gary D. Loucks passed away peacefully with family on July 24, 2021 at the age of 79. He was born March 9, 1942 in the Town of Bath. As the oldest of eight kids growing up in Howard, Avoca, and Prattsburgh NY, he was no stranger to hard work and helping family. His greatest passions were for his family, flying, and his animals at the farm. During his lifetime, he was a successful general contractor and became a well-respected businessman in the Bath area. In his younger years his passions were fast cars, riding snowmobiles and camping with his family. He also loved designing, building, and flying small airplanes. Through the years he realized his passion to fulfill his dreams of his own farm fully equipped with cattle, sheep, and goats along with airstrips for his planes – a great place for family and friends to visit. He was a pilot for over 50 years and his desire to learn and use his mind and hands to create are evident in his work in aviation both restoring and building experimental aircrafts. His love for flying and generosity extended to years of service to the Glenn Curtiss Aviation Museum. He will be missed by his family, friends, and the local aviation community. He is predeceased by his parents, Carroll and Mildred (Mullikin) Loucks, his first wife, Rosemary (Hoose) Loucks. He is survived by his current wife, Barbara (Brown) Loucks, 7 siblings, William Loucks, Joseph Loucks, Linda McConnell, Sally Egan, Charlie Loucks, Jamie Loucks, and Julie (Graham) Ritchie. He and Rosemary raised 3 hardworking successful children: David (Jen) Loucks, Marcy (Marty) Smith, and Tom Loucks. He was a very proud grandpa to 6 grandchildren, Michael and Katelyn Loucks, Kyle (Lisa Luther) and Casey Smith, Thomas and Marley Loucks, and 2 great granddaughters Scarlett and Kylie. Services will be held Monday, August 2, 2021 at Fagan’s Funeral Home in Bath, NY. Calling hours will be from 2 – 4 with a service immediately following. In lieu of flowers, kindly make donations to the Finger Lakes SPCA.
