Michael is the reason we return to the Cove year after year. We met him when he was working in sales and joked about our being adamant that we would not purchase a time share, yet walked away with Multiple weeks. And so a friendship was forged which lasted the past 16 years . I truly believe that it was Michael working his magic that made our time in St Thomas so special. Michael just made sure everything fell into place during our stay. His love for people, his Island life, and his cherished wife Laurie was always so evident. Although he had moved on we were still able to keep in touch while in Orlando, and then NY. I have no doubt he arrived at the gates of Heaven to a hearty welcome... ‘Well done, good and faithful servant!' Our condolences to Laurie and the entire Wilcox family. Thanking you for sharing Michael with us.

"May the warm tropical breezes always be blowing in your direction"...I'm shedding tears of sadness from Michael's passing and also happy tears because of fond memories that I have of Michael when reading this. The Frenchman's Cove pre-construction sales team had adopted this as our expression and Michael truly embodied this and Marriot's Spirit to Serve for all of the years that I worked with him. He was such a kind man and brought sunshine "and warm tropical breezes" any time that he walked into a room. Laurie, I'm praying for you to experience the comfort that only God can provide.

We met him like many at Frenchman’s Cove. He wore many hats in those early years. Coordinating poolside events, greeting guests, etc. We always knew we had a friend waiting for us once we got there. His joy was contagious. We’d occasionally see he and Laurie out and about. Always so pleasant and helpful. We will miss him indeed.

Michael was such a phenomenal person to be around. Listening to all his stories and even learning from him was such a great experience I enjoyed while working with him at Mariott Frenchman’s Cove. He would always talk about his wife Laurie and you would always see the two together. I was so saddened to hear the news of Michael’s death. Thank you for everything that I learned from you while working at Frenchman’s Cove. My deepest condolences to Laurie and the entire family. Until we meet again Micheal… R.I.E.P. Michael

Mehn where do I begin talking about this awesome, kind, loving former colleague of mines. Michael and I shared a office at the Cove. So many stories, so many laughter and disagreements but we always enjoyed working together. Michael love for his beautiful wife Laurie was always known in the office as he never held that back. Laurie's such a wonderful lady! Michael was all about family! He has touched so many people. Anyone Michael encountered loved him. Michael, you will truly be missed. Thank you for your knowledge, words of wisdom, holding down the office when I was out, believing in me, always asking for my son and being the amazing person you were. Words can't express the hurt and disbelief I'm in. Thanks for being you! Thank you for allowing me to be in your presence. What a great guy!

Michael was always one of the first people to greet me and my guests when we arrived at Marriott Frenchman's Cove. I was always amazed at how he remembered our names year after year, and where we were from (Mass.). My thoughts and prayers go out to Michael's family along with my deepest condolences. He will be missed!

We will continue to remember him every year as we visit the restaurants that he always recommended to us. Of course, his recommendations were always the best!

There is not enough words to describe who Michael was as a person. Am still in disbelief because my last conversation with you was that you are ok enjoying retirement and working part time and I said make sure to give Laurie my love. I know there is no way for us to know when death will come upon us but I did promise you guys that I was coming to visit soon. Hearing Laurie voice last week Thursday broke me that I am still lost with words and have no idea how to comfort someone who has lost their everything. However, my pray and hope is that we will all find comfort in his memories and too remember that smile and laugh when he walked into a room. Weeping may endure for a night but joy cometh in the morning Laurie. My heart and prays are with you and REST IN PEACE our dear Michael until we meet again for now it is not goodbye but see you later. Shanda

Laurie and Linda,
I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. He was always “ Willie” to me for over 60 years. Even though we lost touch with each other, when we reconnected a couple years back, it was like no time had passed. We shared every holiday with text greetings and truly enjoyed looking for our text messages on our birthdays—exactly 3 months apart- Feb 10th and May 10th. I will absolutely miss those. We were connected at the hip with his Yankees and my Giants. His Mickey Mantle and my Willie Mays. We finally agreed that neither of us would win the argument as to who was better. Your move back to Bath brought back so many memories he and I shared growing up. Those are God’s gift to us when someone leaves us. I will remember my friend fondly. My best to you and your family. Mike

They say that Syracuse grads bleed Orange, well this past week I cried Orange for my oldest friend from SU. He walked into my life and our dorm room that August day in 1972 and we have been friends ever since. I will always cherish the time we had together and will be deeply missed.

Very sad to see this. I met Mikl in 4th grade, 1963. Reconnected when he and Laurie moved to Orlando. We need to live every day with joy and appreciation for our many blessings as Mikl did. He was always 'up', friendly and willing to engage. Condolences to Laurie and family.

This is very sad news indeed. We've known Mike for over 50 years; a wonderful person gone far too soon. Mike never met a stranger - when he entered a room, within a short time everyone knew him. Mike loved people, and people loved him. Our sincere sympathy to Laurie and Mike's family.
