Please share a memory of Teresa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Teresa Rae Higbie - AKA T.C., Treese, Tee and Trouble, aged 64 and resident of Bridgewater Nursing Facility in Binghamton, NY, passed from this world at 12:15 am Sunday, November 7, 2021 after a lifelong struggle against effects of Cerebral Palsy on her mind and body to which she never surrendered but finally succumbed. Born April 28, 1957 to John and Bettie Rae (Danningburg) Higbie, both of whom have predeceased her. Teresa is survived by brothers Joe and Steve Higbie and their spouses Pamela (Meyers) and Shawna (Sick) respectively, as well as nephews Jerred, Jake and Phillip Higbie and her cousins Cathy and Mike Twist and Nancy (McDonald) Stage. She was a graduate of Savona Central School. Teresa accepted absolutely that Jesus Christ was her personal savior. She did not however believe that a person could wear too much jewelry (at one time) or too big a hat or too wild a pair of sunglasses. She was something of a gypsy and lived in several homes and worked at various jobs through the ARC in both Steuben and Schuyler Counties. Teresa also volunteered at the Montour Falls Public Library where she read to preschoolers. She loved to read. She inspired many with her courage and determination, especially those of us forced to cross swords with her occasionally. Alot of people seem to be looking for some kind of hero these days, if there's not one in the mirror, good luck with that. My sister Teresa was my heroine though, as my Dad often said to my brother and I (we didn't argue) she's tougher than the three of us put together. I would add more thoughtful and understanding too. She will be sorely missed by all. Although the good people at Bridgewater took excellent care of Teresa, the last place she considered home was on Canal Street in Montour Falls, N.Y. If friends and admirers wish to make a gesture of remembrance, please donate to: The Arc of Chemung-Schuyler c/o Canal Street 203 Twelfth Street, Watkins Glen, N.Y. 14891.
