Obituary of Charles R. Gay

Charles R. Gay, 77, more commonly known as Buck, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021
after a long illness at the Taylor Health Center. He was born in Bath, NY on 11/12/44 and has
been a long term resident of Bath. Buck attended school in Prattsburgh, NY. He was proud of
his military service in the US Army and served during the Vietnam War. He attended Alfred
University to earn his license as an LPN. He served for a time as an EMT in Avoca, NY. He
worked as an LPN in the Nursing Home Care Unit at the Bath V.A. for approximately 18 years
until his disability retirement in 2001. Buck loved animals, and was devoted to his rescue dog,
Spike Lee. He was pre-deceased by his parents, Russell and Margaret (Chapman). He is survived
by his wife, Martha (Randall) Gay, daughter Tammy (Chad) Conrad, step-daughter, Ida
(Campbell) Thompson, brother, Lannie (Pam) Gay and sister, Sandra, (Ken) Mahoski,
7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and
nephews. There will be no services at this time as per his request. His ashes will be interred
with military honor at the Bath National Cemetery at a later date.
