Matthew P. Zyla, age 68, of Savona, NY passed away January 23, 2022 at Strong Memorial Hospital. Matthew was born May 20, 1953 in Bath, NY. He loved eating out, going to Casinos, hunting and spending time with family. He moved to Rochester at 18 to find work, and became a security guard for DuPont, and a truck driver for the City of Rochester. He worked there for over forty years until his retirement to Savona. He is survived by his life partner Kathleen A. McCarthy; stepsons, James (Sandi) McCarthy and John McCarthy both of Rochester, NY and Michael (Jennifer) Gruttadauria of Tampa, FL, six grandchildren, his sister, Zepha (Paul) Acri, brother Michael (Lacreta) Zyla, many lifelong friends and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Anton and Anna and his brother Anthony.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Bath, NY. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at 1:30 pm at the Hammondsport American Legion Post 407.
