Obituary of Debra L. Loucks
Please share a memory of Debra to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with very sad hearts that we announce that our beloved wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt, Debra L. Loucks, entered the gates of heaven on January 26, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Debra was born September 29, 1957 in Bath, N.Y. to Robert and Janet (Stone) Dolliver. In addition to her devoted husband, Edwin F. Loucks, Debra is survived by two children whom she loved dearly: Anthony Lawton married to Alison Lawton and Wendy Christine Lawton. A third child, Andy, predeceased her. Debra is also survived by three sisters and their spouses: Laurie Cragg and husband Mike; Bobbie Havens and husband Robin; Jamie Suliman and husband Mo. A fourth sister, Vicki Hedden, predeceased her. Nieces and nephews too numerous to list individually also survive along with their families. Debra is now reunited with her parents, Andy, and Vicki as well as other family members and friends she missed so much.
Debra worked for the Steuben County DSS for 43 years. Upon retiring, Debra and her husband enjoyed multiple cross country trips in their RV visiting family members and exploring new places along the way. Palm Springs, CA was a favorite destination on these trips. They also spent several summers and falls relaxing in their RV at Cardinal Campground.
Debra was an avid reader and enjoyed doing Sudoko, but most important to Debra was spending time with her family. She enjoyed hostessing family Christmas parties and especially looked forward to having her nieces and nephews bring their children. She enjoyed it so much that she would frequently begin purchasing presents throughout the year and took much pleasure in buying the right present for each child. Needless to say, Debra was a kindhearted and generous person. She took joy in finding the good in everyone she met.
We wish to thank everyone for all the love and kindness that has been extended to us. A private service will be held at Fagan’s Funeral Home with a large memorial service planned for this summer for all of Debra’s family members, friends, and co-workers. For anyone wishing, memorial contributions in Debra’s name can be sent to the Bath Village Fire Department, 50 E. Morris St., Bath, NY 14810 or the Bath Ambulance Corporation, 110 E. Steuben St., Bath, NY 14810.
