Obituary of Helen A. Eshbach

Helen Arlene Eshbach, born 1-21-28 in Manor township Lancaster County, PA the daughter of the late Harry Herr Eshbach and Mary Kendig Eshbach. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Benjamin K., Henry K. and sisters, Martha E. Landis and Mary E. Forrey and niece Betty (Mary Elizabeth) Landis and many friends. Graduated from Manor Millersville High School and Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing with a degree in Nursing. She worked as an RN in Wenger, Bashore & Knerr OB/GYN office in Lancaster, PA. Served as volunteer RN in Puerto Rico for 2 years under the auspices of Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities. Helen cared for her invalid parents for 8 years in their home.
She was employed as head nurse in Lancaster General Hospital Medical/Surgical Unit. After her marriage to Leland Vosburg, she moved to New York State and worked at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital and Schuyler Skilled Nursing. After her divorce and Leland's death, she worked part time at Keuka Family Practice.
After retirement she moved from the farm in Weston, NY to Lakeview Apartments in Bath where she did community volunteer work through; RSVP, Project Care of Office for the Aging, American Red Cross, Steuben County Public Health Nursing Services Office, Pro Action Meals on Wheels. She attended Weston Presbyterian Church in Weston and helped with church functions also helped out at the Tyrone Fire Co. dinners and she attended Monday Niter Crafts. More recently she attended Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church in Hammondsport.
Helen enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, raising Boston Terriers and loved her pug Kevpie. She thoroughly enjoyed her volunteer services as long as physically able.
She is survived by sister-in-law Rita Eshbach of Lititz, PA and nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Helen was a life member of Lancaster General Alumni Assoc., Lancaster Mennonite Nurses Assoc., AARP, AAA Life member and attended Bath Trusting Friends Trust Group as long as able. She supported Family Life Ministries in Bath and Pleasant Valley Mennonite Church as able.
A Remembrance will be held at Lakeview Apartments 2 at 105 Geneva Street, Bath, NY 14810 on October 9, 2014 at 10:00 am by Bath Trusting Friends Trust Group.
