Obituary of Elizabeth E. Van Gelder

Elizabeth E. Van Gelder, age 86, of Bath, NY died peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 19, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Liz Van Gelder was born on April 3, 1935 in Bath, NY, the daughter of the late Frank B. and Elinor (Bates) Edwards. She was a graduate of Dana Lyon High School in Bath, NY and was a member of the Bath Seventh Day Adventist Church. Liz Van Gelder had worked as a Telephone Operator in Bath and also had worked at the Drive-In, Grants and P & C Deli and Bakery in Bath. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and Wednesday's Shopping with the girls. She was known as Mom and Grandma to a lot of people other than her family. She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Harold Van Gelder, and two brothers, Earl and Jack Edwards. She is survived by her children; Steven (Colleen) Van Gelder, Debra (Gavin) Cogswell, Kelly (Bruce) Cranmer, Joe (Sue) Van Gelder and Valerie (Mark) Riley; grandchildren, Steven Jr., Joyell, Adrian, Jared, Garrett, Erin, Sarah and Courtney; great grandchildren, Hunter, Joslyn, Joel, Arianna and Lilith and a special niece Kathy and her fur babies, Peanut and Squeaker. Family and friends are invited to the visitation at Fagan's Funeral Home on Thursday, February 24, 2022 from 11:00 am-1:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 pm and a graveside service at Nondaga Cemetery, Bath. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her name may be made to the Bath Seventh Day Adventist Church, PO Box 461, Bath, NY 14810. The family would like to thank the Care First Team and nurse Carol for all the good care they gave to Liz.
