Patricia Muller

Obituary of Patricia S. Muller

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Patricia Ann (Shoemaker) Muller died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 25th as the song ‘What a Wonderful World’ by Louis Armstrong came to a close. She was surrounded by loved ones following a wonderful week long celebration of life. Pat was loved deeply and fiercely by us all.

Patricia was born on September 25, 1933 to Mary and Frank Shoemaker in Bath, NY. She graduated from Haverling High School where she met her high school sweetheart, George Muller.

George was a basketball player and Patricia was a cheerleader alongside his sister, Phyllis. Phyllis bet George fifty cents that he couldn’t get a date with Pat… Well, it is safe to say he proved her wrong and won that bet!

Pat and George embarked on their first date and the rest is history. Shortly after, the dynamic duo tied the knot on October 20, 1951. They spent the subsequent 70 years filling their home with love, laughter, and happiness and they were blessed with a wonderful family. As a result, Pat is survived and already greatly missed by her loving husband, George and their children: Michael (Deb) Muller, Patrick (Linda) Muller, Cynthia (Gary) Thompson and Timothy (Deb) Muller; grandchildren: Eric Muller, Kelly (Tony) Dickson, Collin (Tara) Muller, Mitch (Nikki) Muller, Mandy Muller, Nick Muller, Ryan (Sanjana) Thompson and Cassi (Katie) Thompson; great grandchildren: Spencer Dickson, Lillian Dickson, Lydia Dickson and Parker Muller; sister: Kitchie (Neal) Julien; and special nieces Kate, Mackenzie and Logan Muller who helped their Aunt Pat through this difficult time. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.

Patricia was predeceased by her mother, Mary Shoemaker; father, Frank Shoemaker; and grandson, Anthony Muller.

Patricia spent many years as a beautician operating from their family home in Bath, NY. Together, she and George then opened Muller’s Market in Avoca, NY where they provided groceries and smiles to patrons for many years. Whilst Patricia gave great perms, fixed up a killer macaroni salad and baked a delicious apple pie, she was more widely known for her unconditional love for family and friends, not forgetting her nightly Coors Light and her passion for puzzles.

Pat’s courage and will to survive after a fall, two strokes and a heart attack was like no other.  She courageously maintained a grateful outlook on life and a “just glad to be alive” attitude. Throughout it all, her mind was sharp as a tack and her deep faith never wavered.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the staff of CareOne and all the caregivers who looked after Pat with such warmth and kindness. She loved you all so much.

The family will be planning a celebration of life in August. We thank you for all your thoughts and prayers
