Obituary of Lawrence K Swarthout

Lawrence Swarthout passed away at home on June 5, 2022, with many family members attending to his last days. He was predeceased by his parents Kenneth and Stella (Obrochta) Swarthout, sisters Kay Spires, Nancy Brownell and stepson Kevin Patterson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois (Wainwright) Swarthout, his daughters Linda Speer (Mark Shepard) and Janice (Dean) Conley, grandchildren Eric (Nicole) Conley, Nathaniel Speer (Seth Meyer), Deana Conley (Gene Arin), Eric (Amanda) Jamison, Deondre (Jon) Almas, Kyle Patterson, Kaley (Preston) Hall, Dalton (Arianna) Ordway and Aleah Ordway and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Larry was born in 1939 in Urbana and graduated from Haverling High School. Larry had many interests including fishing, hunting, playing cards, pool, bowling, boating and restoring cars. He was a fierce competitor in pool, cards and bowling. His favorite fishing spot was Cold Brook. He loved parties and enjoyed laughing with family and friends. He won awards for his restored cars. He was a hard worker since he was a teen. He worked at Taylor Winery, the Wagner Hotel, Perry Thompson Ford, Electrolux and lastly as a Bus Driver for the Bath School District. At his request, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. There will be a celebration of life at the Bath American Legion on June 25th at 1pm. Arrangments and care by Fagan's Funeral Home.
