Obituary of Ruby G. Thompson

Ruby Genevieve Thompson, 91, of Painted Post, died August 10, 2022,
at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.
Ruby was born in Avoca, NY, to Sadie and Samuel House on February
2, 1931. She went to school in a one room school house in Avoca.
She worked in the Commissary Department in the Bath V.A. for many
years serving our veterans. She moved to Augusta, Maine, and was
the sole cook at Coopers Mills Elementary School. Staff and students
always raved about her delicious home cooked meals. Gardening was
her passion! Every year she froze and canned the fruits of her labor.
Her strawberry harvest was always second to none. Her flowerbeds
brought vibrant color and joy to her community! She had a green
thumb. Her love for animals was infectious. She was a natural
nurturer.
Ruby is survived by her only child Bonita Dobson of Painted Post.
Grandchildren Kimberly Walters, Kelly (Larry) Jamison, Pauline (Bruce)
Twist, Billie Jo (Dave) Warden, and Christopher (Tina) Dobson. She
has 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 10 great-great
grandchildren. Siblings Anne Hazzard and Sharon Blankenship, step-
daughter Sharon Wheeler, and several nieces and nephews. She was
preceded in death by her husband, Wilmot Thompson, parents Sadie
and Samuel House, son-in-law Olin Dobson, and great-granddaughter
Alexa Dobson.
Funeral service will be held at Fagan’s Funeral Home on Monday,
August 15 th . Visitation will be from 11am to 1 pm, with funeral service
immediately following. Sis Conrad will be officiating. Fagan’s
Funeral Home will be handling the funeral arrangements.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Harriet Taylor Nursing
Home in Bath and the Emergency Room Department at Robert Packer
Hospital, especially her nurse Alicia!
