Obituary of Dean W. Hoag

Dean W. Hoag, 70, of Rock Stream, NY died Wednesday, March 2nd, 2023 after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. He was born in Bath, NY on July 19, 1952, to Donald “Dutch” and Doris Hoag.

Dean’s great loves of life were: his family, racing, owning Black Rock Speedway, and real estate. He was quietly generous and helped take care of, and will be missed by many. 

Dean was predeceased by his father Dutch in 2016, and his mother Doris in 2007. Dean is survived by his children: Alex (Nicole) Hoag of Painted Post, NY; Erica (Murray) Streicher of Goshen, KY; and Kristie (Scott) McNally of Bath, NY. He also is survived by 6 grandchildren: Madison, Tanner, Brady, Claire, Zachary, and Noah. Additionally, he is survived by his long time girlfriend, Christine Wiggins; mother of his children, Kathryn Forester; and aunt and uncle, Lester “Clay” and Rosemary Ovenshire. 

Friends may call on Tuesday, March 7th from 2-4pm or 6-8pm at Fagan’s Funeral Home in Bath, NY. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 8th at the Kanona United Methodist Church at 11am. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery. The family also invites you to attend a luncheon in celebration of Dean’s life after the funeral service at Bath Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Dean’s name may be made to: The Ann and Carl Meyers Cancer Center, 111 Clara Barton Street, Dansville, NY 14437.
