Obituary of Stanley H. MacDougal Jr.

Stanley H. MacDougal, Jr., age 85, and a lifelong resident of Prattsburgh and Wheeler, NY, passed away on September 4, 2023, at Ira Davenport Hospital from complications of long covid.  He was born in Beaumont, Texas on April 20, 1938, where he received his nickname “Tex”, to parents Stanley H. MacDougal, Sr. and Joyce Allyn.

Tex was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Sandra MacDougal Shamma, and his beloved daughter Marcy.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy to whom he was married for 66 years, his daughters Laurie and Lisa (Dan) MacDougal-Zimbleman, his nieces Reem (Matt) Jahnke, Tammy (Mike) Gilbert, and nephew Brian (Cassie) Dygert.

Tex was a graduate of Prattsburgh Central School and played tennis and basketball where the team won many district championships.  He was a lifelong farmer and trucker and enjoyed spending time on the farm with his animals when he was not on the road.

Tex served on the Wheeler Town Board and was for many years a member of the Steuben County Farm Bureau.  As a youngster, Tex attended the Prattsburgh Presbyterian Church and later in life attended the Prattsburgh Baptist Church and the Wheeler Methodist Church.

Tex will be deeply missed by all that know him.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 11, 2023, at Fagan’s Funeral Home, 31 W. Morris Street, Bath NY.

Calling hours will be from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm with the funeral immediately following.  A graveside committal will follow for those who wish to attend, followed by a luncheon at the Wheeler Community Center, 8855 State Rt. 53, Wheeler, NY behind the Wheeler Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Finger lakes SPCA, 72 Cameron St., Bath, NY  or a charity of your choice.
