Obituary of Anna M. Hazzard

Anna May Hazzard, a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024, at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Health Facility in Bath, NY. Born on November 5, 1926, Anna's life was marked by her kind-hearted nature and unwavering dedication to her family and home.

Anna was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Sadie House, her stepfather, Alfred Hann, former husband, Paul Hazzard, her daughter, Delores (Dee Dee) Lese, an infant son, Gary, and her siblings, Lawrence, Bernard, Willis (Pete), Samuel (Jr.), Grace, Ruby and Edna. 

Anna is survived by her children, Harold (Sue) Hazzard, Pauline McClary and Tina (Scott) Watson. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Blankenship, as well as her grandchildren, great grandchildren, great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.  Anna will especially be sorely missed by her granddaughter, Lindsay (Jeff) Rice and their sons, Jace and Kolton, who meant the world to her.

Anna dedicated her life to the service of others, both in her professional career and personal life. After her education, Anna embarked on a career that would span several decades, culminating in her retirement in 1988 from the VAMC. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were not just evident in her career but also in the meticulous way she cared for her home, yard and vehicles.

Her interests were a reflection of her loving character. Anna found joy in cleaning, taking care of her house and yard, and, most importantly, helping her family in any way she could. She believed in the value of hard work and the importance of maintaining a welcoming and well-kept home. Her hands were rarely still, as she was always busy ensuring that everything around her was just right. Anna always enjoyed watching her great grandchildren at their sporting events and school concerts. 

Those who knew Anna would describe her as the epitome of loving, selfless, and kind. She had a heart that knew no bounds, and her generosity of spirit made a lasting impact on everyone she met. Anna touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Anna's legacy is one of unwavering love and kindness. It is a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts and memories of those who were fortunate enough to have been part of her life. Her passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will forever be a guiding light to all who knew her.

As we bid farewell to Anna May Hazzard, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a soul that will continue to inspire kindness and selflessness in us all. May she rest in peace, knowing that her life was a testament to the beauty of a simple, caring existence.

The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Arnot Ogden Hospital, Dr. Gurdeep Kundlas, and the entire staff at Fred & Harriett Taylor Health Center, who cared for her with love, kindness and compassion. 

At Anna's request,  there will be no services. A burial service and celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 pm on April 28, 2024 at Nondaga Cemetery, Bath.
