Obituary of Katherine F. Taggart
Katherine (Faucett) Taggart passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center after a short illness. She was born on November 15, 1948 in Bath, NY to J. Victor and Eloise Stuart Faucett. She was educated in local schools as well as Corning Community College and Keuka College.
During her years of employment, she served the following: The Twin Tier Eye Care working in Dr. Al Wahlig’s office; Steuben County Court Systems in Bath; Ira Davenport Hospital serving as a registrant where she was always empathetic to all her patients. She made many friends at Ira and continued to meet with former colleagues regularly for lunch known as the “Golden Oldies.” She was formerly active in the Bath Area Women’s Republican Club in Bath.
Kate was born with flaming red hair and at times displayed some of the stereotypical “red hair personality traits,” never one to sit back and listen, but always in the middle of any activity. Her family remained a top priority for Kate. She was a regular attendee at grandchildren’s sporting events, eagerly cheering them on to victory. She inherited her mother’s skills in the kitchen, always producing wonderful meals and never using a recipe. Her kitchen was always open. Her crochet needles produced dozens of items including Christmas bells, crosses and angels which she shared with all of her family. Her love of angels in any form was clearly evident throughout her home. Her steady faith in God never left her.
Kate was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Leon whom she married on October 14, 1981. She is survived by her children: Joshua(Nicole) Taggart, Penfield, NY; Meghan (Christian) Zyla, Bath, NY; Michele (Curtis) Covert, Penn Yan, NY; Geoffrey Taggart, Tyrone, NY; Kelly Taggart, Melbourne, FL; George (Lynn) Taggart, Fair Oaks, CA; Kimberly Taggart, Saratoga, WY; Leslie Taggart, Cave Creek, WY; Jackie (KC)Newton Bar, Nunn, WY; grandchildren Cameryn Taggart and Easton Zyla, Max and Mia Taggart; sister Mary F. Paddock, Bath, NY, and special nieces Beth Carlson Case, Wellsville, NY and Karen Carlson, Valley Falls, NY. Kate prided herself on being a GREAT aunt to Emily Case of Wellsville, NY, Taylor Case of Buffalo, NY, Sarah Carlson-McNally of NYC and Eloise Carlson-McNally of Troy, NY. She is also survived by her ever-faithful and loving Bentley.
