Obituary of Betty French

Betty Simpson French, age 79, of Bath, NY, died Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Taylor Health Care Center. She was born September 5, 1932 in Marion, PA the daughter of Roscoe and Mary Miller Simpson. Betty was the 13th Generation of the Mayflower Descendants and a Davenport Girl. She was a Nurse's Aide at Ira Davenport Memorial Hospital and a Counselor at the Sedwick House in Bath. She was co-owner and operator of the Green Acres Campsite in Savona and a self employed Caterer. She was a member of the Centenary United Methodist Church in Bath and the Wheeler Methodist Church. She was a Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and Cinderella Softball Coach. She is survived by her husband, Harold E. French of Bath; five children, Bonnie (Jim) Chase of Corning, NY, Linda Chidsey of Bath, NY, Judy Simpson of Bath, NY, David French of Rushville, NY and Mark French of Louisville, KY, 21 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, her brother, David (Donna) Simpson of Fayitville, PA and sister, Genevieve Owens of Penn Yan, NY. She was predeceased by her parents, granddaughter Christine West, great granddaughter Erica Morey, brother, Ernest Simpson and sisters, Beverly Lyke and Lois Fickis. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday March 31, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Centenary United Methodist Church in Bath with Reverend Ron Huckabone officiating. Burial will be in Davenport Cemetery, Bath, NY. The family will provide flowers and memorial donations may be made to the Centenary United Methodist Church in Bath or the Wheeler Methodist Church.
