Obituary of Jeanette Nicola Brown

Please share a memory of Jeanette to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Jeanette N. "Niki" Remlinger Brown, a beacon of laughter and camaraderie, left us on July 14, 2024. Born in the winter of 1947 in Bath, NY, Niki was the kind of person who could find humor in just about anything—an attribute that surely made every moment with her a memorable one. She passed away in Painted Post, NY, her heart full of love and a lifetime of cherished moments, even as it succumbed to heart failure.

Niki's life was a medley of accomplishments and joyous occasions. After graduating from Bath Haverling Central School in 1965, she pursued further education at Syracuse University. Not only did she bleed Orange as a die-hard Syracuse fan, but she also earned both her undergraduate and master's degrees there. Her professional life was a testament to her compassion, as she retired as a Rehabilitation Counselor from the New York State Department of Mental Health, helping countless individuals navigate their journeys with empathy and wit.

Family was the cornerstone of Niki's world. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her son Chad and his wife Jennifer, her daughter Rachael and her husband Michael, and her adored grandchildren Zachary (with Emily), Nathan, and Elizabeth. Niki was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles F. Brown Jr., and her parents, Matthew (Nick) and Helen Remlinger, all of whom surely welcomed her with open arms.

An avid bridge player, Niki could outwit and outplay the best of them, her card table always echoing with laughter. Her passions extended beyond the shuffle and deal; she was a member of the Bath American Legion Auxiliary, Lake Salubria Association, Historical Society, among others. She was also active in politics and loved political discussions. Her spirited involvement was not just a contribution to her community but a source of endless stories and punchlines.

Those who knew Niki will remember her as the life of the party. Funny, friendly, and spirited, she had the uncanny ability to brighten up the dullest of days with her humor and warmth. She loved her animals fiercely, and they, along with her family and friends, were the recipients of her boundless affection and playful jests, especially her "gift from God" Georgia Peach.

The world is a little less bright without Niki's radiant smile and quick wit, but her legacy of laughter and love will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She has taken her final bow on life's stage, leaving behind a treasure trove of memories that will continue to inspire chuckles and smiles for generations to come.

Niki Remlinger Brown, you will be deeply missed, and your punchlines will echo in our hearts forever. May you find the best card games and the heartiest laughs wherever your journey has taken you.
