Obituary of James R. Barnes
James Richard Barnes, known affectionately as Jim to his friends and family, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on October 22, 2024, in Bath, NY, at the age of 72. Born on June 27, 1952, in Troy, NY, Jim was a man whose laughter and wisdom touched the lives of all who knew him.
Jim was a lifelong resident of New York and the proud owner of Quality Painting, a business that not only colored the walls of countless homes and businesses but also the hearts of the community through his dedication and craftsmanship. His work ethic and integrity set a standard in the industry, and his generous spirit made him a mentor to many.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jim was a man of many passions. Music was a passion of Jim's, and he could often be found strumming his guitar, his fingers dancing over the strings to a tune that was as warm and inviting.
His love for riding his motorcycle spoke to his sense of adventure, while his culinary skills revealed his ability to create warmth and connection through delicious meals shared with loved ones. Jim’s fishing trips were legendary, not just for the catch, but for the laughter and stories that would echo long after the day was done.
Jim's sense of humor was as infectious as it was endearing, and his laughter was a gift he gave freely, brightening the days of those around him. He was a beacon of wisdom, a man who spoke with consideration and lived by the principles of kindness and understanding. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always the first to lend a hand to anyone in need.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory and continue his legacy. His daughters, Sarah Barnes and Jaimie Kollmorgan, remember him as a guiding light in their lives, a father whose love knew no bounds. He cherished the bond he shared with his son-in-law, Javi. Matt Thompson, who is like a son, reflects on the strength and integrity that Jim instilled in him. Jim's brother, Lenny Mallozzi, will miss the camaraderie and the unbreakable bond they shared. Sprinkles, Jim's loyal dog, was a constant companion and brought him immeasurable joy.
Jim Barnes lived a full life, rich with the joys of simple pleasures and the deep bonds of family and friendship. He will be profoundly missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege to know him. As we say farewell to Jim, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by kindness, laughter, and love.
