Rose M. Belcher, age 77, of Canisteo, NY, passed away on April 3, 2012 at her home. She was born in Montague, NJ on Dec. 28, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Ernest and Frances (Van Orden) Smith. She woeked at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Milford, PA and moved to Canisteo, NY in 1996 with her husband of 50 years, James R. Belcher who she is survived by. She is also survived by her sons; Michael L. Belcher of Topeka, KS, Timothy E. Belcher of Montague, NJ, Peter J. Belcher of Easton, PA and Steven L. Belcher of Canisteo, NY, and several nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Paul H. Belcher of Netcong, NJ, her brother, Charles E. Smith and her sisters, Ella C. Smith and Frances E. (Smith) Toombs, all of Montague, NJ. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and friend. A woman of strong spirit and faith who always put others before herself. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always willing to help someone in need. She loved to laugh and always had a smile for everyone she met. Words cannot begin to express how much she was and still is loved, but she will truly be missed by everyone whose heart she touched. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
