Obituary of Lorraine Kae Loomis-Konig

Lorraine Loomis-König obituary Lorraine Kae Loomis-König, with her family by her side, joined her Lord on September 13, 2015 after losing her battle with a rare cancer. She was born on 19. March 1956 in the old Bath Hospital, the daughter of Duane and Evelyn (Pruden) Loomis and the Granddaughter of Clinton F. and Ethelyn (Drake) Loomis and Raymond and Ruth (Havens) Pruden, growing up in Campbell. Lorraine was baptized at and a lifelong member of the Campbell Methodist Church. Lorraine was a proud member of the Daughter of the American Revolution, the Wayne History Group, New England Society of Genealogy, the Ancient Society of Founding Fathers of Windsor, Conn., the Dundee Historical Society, the Steuben County Historical Society, Yates County Historical Society, and the Corning Painted Post Historical Society. She was a descendant of three Mayflower passengers and belonged to the Association of Professional Genealogy, the Vintage Fashion Guild, the Costume Society of America, the American Textile Society, and wrote for the online magazine 'Fedora Chronicles'. She was town historian for Campbell (her hometown) and Bradford, NY. In college, she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha and graduated from Elmira College with a Bachelors of Art Degree in Business. She worked for 10 years for Corning Incorporated. Because of many moves of her husband's Corning Incorporated career she lived in Durham, NC, where she was a member of the Durham and Orange County Junior League, in Denver, CO, and Wiesbaden, West Germany before the reunification of East and West Germany, again later near Munich, Germany, and Shrewsbury, MA returning each time to her beloved Keuka Lake between her husband's next assignments. In her youth, she was a volunteer YES worker (Youth Emergency Worker) following the 1972 flood. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross and the SPCA. As in invited visiting curator, she loved sharing her extensive collection of vintage clothing and accessories with the Glenn Curtiss Museum, the Oliver House in Penn Yan and other local museums. She loved Bette Davis movies and believed that the America she loved and grew up in still exists. She leaves behind two of the most wonderful sons, Karsten A. König and his fiancée Gwendolyn Gorse of Washington, DC, Sterling G. König at home and her husband of 32 years Gerhard F. König. Also her beloved mother Evelyn Pruden Loomis, Sister Jane (Jerry) Loomis-Ayres of Campbell, nephew Adam L. Ayers in Hawaii, brother and sister in-law Hans-Dieter and Waltraud König in Germany, nephews Jochen König in Minnesota, Claus-Dieter König in Belgium, and Peter König in Switzerland. She will miss her special friends Andrea Pierson-Linskens, Betty Dieter and especially all of her cousins. She is predeceased by her beloved father Duane H. Loomis, a brother Barry Lyn Loomis, all of her Grandparents, four Uncles: Raymond "Woody" Pruden, Gerald Pruden, Leonard Pruden, Don Pruden, and Robert "Blick" Corey, one Aunt Shirley M. (Taynton) Pruden and a Step Grandmother Ethelyn Koehler Knowles Loomis, a very special friend Craig A. Dieter, cousin and WWII hero Robert N. Austin, her precious Yorkie Katie, and her cousin and best friend Debbie Pruden Wilson. Lorraine wants to be remembered by her family and friends for her love of her Savior Jesus Christ, all animals, Keuka Lake and her passion of nature and classic movies. A Memorial Service will be held at the Campbell United Methodist Church on September 26 at 11:00 am. The time from 9:30 to 11:00 am is reserved to pay your respects to her family. You are welcome to share reflections and memories at the service. Please no flowers.
