Obituary of Charles Richard Peacock
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CHARLES R. "CHARLIE" PEACOCK, age 82, of Tavares FL (previously Bath NY), peacefully went to be with Our Lord on September 27, 2015 with his wife by his side.
Charlie was born on November 12, 1932 in Bath NY, son of the late Roland and Rose Fay Peacock. He graduated from Bath-Haverling High School in 1950 and chose to proudly serve our country with the U.S. Navy on the USS Iowa from 1951 to 1959. He married his soulmate and love of his life, Jean Duvall on December 6, 1952. They built a family over their 62 years of marriage that included four daughters, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Charlie worked for North American Phillips until he retired in 1990. At that time, he and Jean were "snowbirds", spending their winters in Tavares, FL until they moved there year round in 1999. Charlie was an active member of St. Mary's Church in Bath, NY and of St Mary of the Lakes in Eustis, FL. He loved playing shuffle board and getting together for pot-luck suppers with their neighbors in Tiki Village. Charlie and Jean were very active in retirement, walking every morning, going to church on the weekend, catching a movie every week, traveling to see their daughters during the summers, and taking every Senior Bus Trip and Caribbean Cruise that they could. There were many memorable gatherings in Florida when Charlie and Jean's family came to visit- especially for their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
Charlie's strong faith in God was his strength in everyday of his life. He taught everyone by example what it means to be a true Christian and said his prayers side by side with Jean every night. Charlie knew God was the foundation of a strong family, and he was right. He was truly a masterpiece.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Jean Duvall Peacock of Tavares FL, three daughters: Diane (John) Brock of Waterford WI, Pamela (Dale) Thompson of Bath NY, and Patricia (Douglas) Brazie of Inman SC. Six grandchildren: Tara Finholt of Cresco IA, Karen (James) Sweet of Simpsonville SC, Kerry (Christopher) Mosher of Painted Post NY, Kelly (David) Beaudoin of Twin Lakes WI, Kimberly (Steven) Pietrzak of Simpsonville SC and Ryan (Megan) Thompson of Bath NY. Also eight great-grandsons (Zakari, Michael, Owen, Logan, Ethan, Noah, Blake and Henry) and four great-granddaughters (Noelle, Emma, Sadie and Kyla). Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Rose Fay Peacock, sisters, Doris Kelly, Dorothy Cooper and Virginia Deats and his daughter, Deborah, who died at birth.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary of the Lakes in Eustis, FL on October 24th, 2015. A Graveside Burial Service will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Bath NY on November 14th, 2015 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charlie's name to the American Heart Association at www.donatenow.heart.org.
