I met Dutch in the dinner he and his wife ran in Bath. My aunt and uncle were Harold and Laura Blohm from Prattsburg. It was Thanksgiving time and my mom and Aunt Laura surprised me by taking me to the dinner when my aunt knew Dutch would be there. I was a star stuck kid, he signed a napkin for me and had one of his crew take me to the shop and I got to sit in the car he ran at Daytona, and the coupe I'd seen him run at Spencer. That meeting affected me more than anyone could know. From that day to this racing is what I did. I've made my living in the racing industry for more than 25 years. That meeting and Dutch's kindness during that meeting has always been one of my greatest memories. I will turn 57 on the day of Dutch's Life Celebration, and I still feel like a star struck kid. Prayers and a hope for peace to all those that loved and will miss him.

I am so sorry for your loss. I did not personally know 'Dutch' but my father, Asa Spencer did. He used to talk about him all the time. My Dad spoke very highly of him and i know years ago, he would go visit him. My Dad passed away in 2010 but i remember all his stories about "Dutch" Hoag and will cherish them always. RIP Mr. Hoag....My thoughts and prayer are being sent to the family...

We are so sorry to hear of your loss.
I remember one night at Oswego Chuck was in a bad accident and I rode in the ambulance with him. Dutch came over and asked if he could do anything. I did not have time to go to the rig and get my purse. I said you got any money and he lent me $50.00 bucks. I was so thank full.
He was always so kind to us.
He had a great time with racing . Prayers to you and your family.

To the Hoag family,I truly have been saddened to hear of the passing of my friend "DUTCH",Over the years we had become friends and when the ROC weekend was near i was so happy knowing we would be seeing each other again,and when i got grabbed from behind by the neck i knew who it was gonna be.We would chat about how the season had gone and how the car was going,He even come over and calm me down at time to time,Also Dutch would ask how my brother Chuck was doing with the sprint car.People always talked about Dutch the "racer" and well deserved but what i will remember the most is HE WAS JUST A GREAT GUY!!! It is truly an HONOR to say that i became friends with one of the GREATS in the sport we both love, my sincere condolences to you all, Bill Hebing GOD SEED MY FRIEND!!

Every memory I have of Dutch is a good one; his friendly smile and many others. The most special one is when he called me the first night after my honeymoon with Janice. It was about 2AM and he asked me to go to John Clement's house to carry an engine out of John's basement. When I got there he just stood grinning from one ear to the other! THANKS DUTCH YOU WERE A GREAT MAN!

Dutch was my hero while growing up. Visiting the truck stop to spend a weekend afternoon with him and Dory was a highlight of my childhood. My family has so many memories of time spent with Dutch over the past 55 years. Going to Oswego will never be the same as speaking with him was always a highlight of the day. I will miss him teasing me and always showing interest in what I was doing. I know that he is in a better place now, but can't help but shed tears on his loss. He truly was the patriarch of his family. My prayers and love to his family as they mourn the loss of such a great man. Rest in peace Dutch.

My condolences to his family and friends. I met Dutch a few years ago and had a wonderful lunch with him at the first turn in Daytona Beach. Watched him race many times in the early 60's.
