Obituary of Edna C. Smith

Edna C. Smith, age 75, of Bath, NY died Friday, December 2, 2016 at home. She was born in Geneva, NY the daughter of Charles F. and Pearl (Glover) Haff. Edna worked 37-1/2 years in public employment, mostly with the Steuben County Sheriff's Department, and NYS Department of Correctional Services. She retired in 2000 from the Monterey Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility. Edna was an active member of the New York State Federation of Republican Women, and the Retired Public Employees Association. She loved being retired! She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She graduated from Haverling High School, Bath, NY in 1958 and regularly attended reunions which she loved. She enjoyed all that life had to offer and everyone in it. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Robert E. Smith of Bath, NY; two grandchildren, Nicole (Eric) Conley of Gurham, NY and Justin Smith of Fredericksburg, VA and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Silver D. Smith in 1968, sister Phyllis Buck and brother Charles Haff. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 6th from 12:00-2:30 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath with funeral services to follow at 2:30 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Nondaga Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. at www.diabetes.org.
