Obituary of Doris W. Squires

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doris W. Squires of West Morris Street, Bath, NY died Thursday, December 8, 2016 peacefully at her home. Doris was born July 2, 1921. She was the 3rd of five children to Raymond A. and Florence (Willis) Wilcox. She married Raymond (Scoop) Squires on August 31, 1940 in Bath, NY. He predeceased her on September 11, 1995. Doris worked at the Vernon Wightman Primary school in the cafeteria until her retirement; a job she truly enjoyed. She was an avid reader, often devouring three or four books a week. She enjoyed sewing so much that it was her pleasure to make wedding dresses for her daughters and her daughter- in- law. She especially enjoyed a spirited game of gin rummy at the kitchen table, which often resulted in money exchanging hands. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Alberta Garron, Helen Ackerson and Marjorie Sick, as well as her son- in- law T. David Little. She is survived by her brother Larry Wilcox (Virginia) of Florida. Dear Mother of Sharon Little of St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, Lance (MaryAnn) Squires of Bath, Jeffrey (Valerie Havens) Squires of Bath, and Tracy Squires of Bath. Proud grandmother of Raegan Little (Len Ruby), Brennan Little, Kevin Little (Claude Gagne), Stephanie (Dr. Rick) Czajkowski, Julie (Rick) Faulkner and Cassidy Case; and great grandmother to Quinn, Bennett and Faeron Ruby; Madelyn, Evan and Meredith Czajkowski; Raegan and Macy Faulkner; Clara and Leonie Little, Tyler and Hunter Little. She will also be fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews. Doris always appreciated the weekly visits from her niece Pamela Bolton and her former daughter-in-law law Darlene as well as the attention she received from her loyal friend her little dog , Oscar Madison. At her request there will be no calling hours. A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. The family expresses their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Care First Hospice, most notably Rachel Parsels , for their gentle and kind care of their Mother, Nana, Grandma Cheese, Aunt Doris and friend. As an expression of sympathy, a Memorial donation made to St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Bath, NY, would be appreciated by the family.
