Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Margaret (Peg) K. Markham, age 95, of Bath, NY passed away after a short illness at the Ira Davenport Hospital on March 8. She was born on October 9, 1921 in Boalsburg, PA, the only child of John Harrison and Emma (Rowe) Kuhn. Her youth and young adulthood were spent in Williamsport, PA. While working as a secretary in 1943, she attended a hot dog roast for Army Air Corps cadets at her alma mater, Lycoming College. There she met Theodore Markham, a handsome young cadet who was on leave from undergraduate studies at Cornell University to serve in the war. In 1946 they married and began a 68 year partnership that ended with his death in 2014. After living in Warsaw, NY for 9 years, in 1957 they moved to the village of Bath where they raised their five children: Pamela Markham of Ithaca, NY; Jill O'Hara of Union Springs, NY; Philip (Joanne Ruppel) of West Sand Lake, NY; Leigh (Henry) Peck of Lutherville,MD; and Brian (Theresa Cullen) of Honeoye Falls, NY; Eight grandchildren: Katie (Andy) Eldridge; Graham and Kaylyn Peck; Molly and Annie O'Hara; Thomas, Margaret, and Jack Markham and two great grandchildren, Liam and Lucy Eldridge. Peggy's first love was for her family for whom she created a beautiful environment of home cooking and bountiful gardens. She spent her final days at her home surrounded by the nature, friends, and family that she and Ted cultivated throughout her life. She enjoyed being an active participant of the First Presbyterian Church of Bath, her bridge club, exercise group, and the school activities of her children. The family is forever grateful to the dedicated caregivers, church family, and neighbors who attended her last days. Friends and family are invited for calling hours on Friday, March 10 at 5-8 at Fagan's Funeral home, 31 W. Morris St. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church at 11AM with a luncheon following.
