Obituary of Genevieve Gilbert

Genevieve Gilbert, age 89, of Bath, NY died Friday, July 14, 2017 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center of Elmira, NY. She was born April 25, 1928 in Canadice, NY the daughter of the late Raymond and Hazel (Hurlbert) Muck. Mrs. Gilbert attended Haverling Central School in Bath, NY. She worked at many area restaurants including the M & R, Wagner Hotel and Betty Kay Bakery, and retired from Howard Johnson's in the early 60's. Mrs. Gilbert volunteered for many years at local organizations including Turning Point/Catholic Charities. She was a member of the Charles E. Wescott American Legion Post 173 Auxiliary in Bath and a life member of DAV. She is survived by her children; Jonathan (Gail) Gilbert, Sandra Buchanan, Janice Smalt, Ruth (Robert) Bolling, Richard Gilbert and Edward W. Gilbert Jr., and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Walter Gilbert Sr. and several siblings. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 18th from Noon-2:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home, 31 W. Morris St. Bath, NY where funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Nondaga Cemetery, Bath. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her name may be made to Catholic Charities of Steuben, 23 Liberty St. Bath, NY 14810.
