AUGUST 15, 2017 Arelene Cooper Bradstreet, 96, of East Lake Road, Hammondsport, daughter of William H. Cooper and Bernice Gehring Cooper, passed gently into the next life at the Penn Yan Manor in Penn Yan N.Y. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Grover C. Bradstreet, in 1993. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Bradstreet Grinols (Earl) of Woodway, TX; her son, Peter C. Bradstreet ( Jill), of Bath; and her son William C. Bradstreet, of Dearborn Heights, MI. She is also survived by grandchildren Shelly Graves (Frank), Kimberley Neukomm (Nate), Lindsay Simmons (Joshua), Daniel Grinols, Christopher Bradstreet (Molly), Charlotte Bradstreet, David Bradstreet (Samantha), Casey Smith (Chad), Peter L. Bradstreet (Jennifer), Olivia Bradstreet, Alexander Bradstreet (Sebastiana), and Anne Dudley Bradstreet, and 29 great grandchilden. Arelene was the valedictorian of class at Charlotte High School in Rochester, NY, attended Smith College, and then Married the love of her life on December 26, 1941. After her husband returned from service in the Pacific Theater in WWII, they moved to Bath, where she was active in civic affairs. Arelene served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Health Association of Steuben County, President of the local P.T.A., and was the first woman elected secretary of the Bath Little League, where she also acted as Player Agent. She also served on the citizens' committee for the establishment of the sewer system in the Village of Bath, and the committee for the design of the Vernon E. Wightman School. Mrs. Bradstreet was an accomplished duplicate bridge player, traveling to numerous tournaments and obtaining the classification of Bronze Life Master, but perhaps her greater joy was assisting of the founding and development of the Bath Country Club by her husband in the 1950's. A memorial service will be held in conjunction with a service with full military honors for her husband at a future date.
