Obituary of Mary Louise King

Mary Louise King, age 83, died peacefully with her loving family at her bedside, on October 24, 2017. Mary Lou was born December 14, 1933 to the late Clair 'Ted' Smith and Anna Hoad Smith of Avoca and was a lifelong resident there, and of Bath, NY. She was married to the late Herman Joseph King on September 12, 1953. Her family and friends were Mary Lou's passion and pride. She graduated from LPN school, after years of caring for her husband, and worked at the Steuben County Infirmary, where her caring heart continued to shine. She enjoyed cooking, reading, shopping, Bingo, gambling (with family) and gardening. Mary Lou is survived by her children; Deborah (Greg) Smith of Warrenton, NC, Vicky (Joe) Patoine of Bath, NY, Barbara (Dan) Soles of Bath, NY, Marlea (Tom) Mitchell of Geneva, NY, Deidra (Mark) Conrad of Bath, NY and Keith King of Bath, NY; grandchildren, Angela, Miranda, Karen, Donnie, Brenda, Kimberlè, Tonya, Simon, Jessica, Jennifer, Kraig, Carissa, Ian, Jeremy, Tommy, JoAnn, Sandy, Michelle, Marilee, Nathan, Rebecca, Robby, Christy and Logan, several great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Her brothers-in-law and their wives; Beecher and Viola King of Caswell, ME and Clayton and Yvonne King of Savona, NY, sister-in-law, Carlene Higgins of Yelm, WA and her lifelong friend Linda (Fred) Williams of Avoca, NY. Mom you were our rock and we are so going to miss you. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at the Hammondsport Fire Hall, on Sunday, October 29th from 4:00-8:00 pm. Graveside services will be held on Monday October 30th at 10:00 am at the Valley View Cemetery, Jacobs Ladder, Avoca.
