Obituary of Robert E. Matter

Robert E. Matter, Jr, 51 of Hope Mills, NC, formerly of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. and Clifton Springs, NY passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 7th after an extended illness.

 

Rob was born on October 26, 1966 to Robert E. Sr. and Cathlene (Daley) Matter in Bath, NY.  He graduated from Haverling High School and went on to attend Hudson Valley Community College.

 

He worked for Conserve Financial Services in Fairport, NY for several years and most recently for Boston Portfolio Advisors, Inc. in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.  He was a member of the Kanona United Methodist church; he will be remembered for his sense of humor, his ability to talk to anyone and the way he could deliver the perfectly-time one liner.

 

He was predeceased by his father Robert, Sr. and a sister, Susan.  He will be greatly missed and is survived by his mother, Cathlene Matter of Wilmington, NC; two sisters, Cynthia (John) Woods of Fulton, NY and Mary Gutierrez of Wilmington, NC; a brother Michael (Donna) Matter of Kanona, NY and several nieces and nephews whom he adored.

 

Burial will be private.  A celebration of Rob’s life will be held at the American Legion, 14 W. William St., Bath, NY on Saturday, June 2nd at 4PM.   Contributions in Rob’s memory can be made to the Poverello Center, Inc, 2056 N Dixie Hwy, Wilton Manors, FL 33305. https://poverello.givingspirit.com/ .
