Obituary of Gerald B. Buck

Gerald (Gerry) B. Buck of Savona, New York passed away on April 30, 2018 at the Fred & Harriett Taylor Health Center after a brief illness. He was born December 11, 1930 in Campbell, New York, the son of James W. Buck and Ethel I. Rose Buck. During high school at Campbell Central School, Gerry loved working on the family farm and for local farmers, delivering milk and raising chickens. After graduation he served two years in the U.S. Army. After leaving the Army he worked for various farms and local contractors, later joining the Carpenters Local 700 from which he retired. Gerry was a meticulous carpenter, valued for his attention to detail as a finish carpenter. He is survived by his children Todd (Lee) Buck of McDonald, Kansas, Tammra Buck of Savona, New York, and Penelope (Thomas Majka) Buck of Cortland, New York, grandchildren Lydia Buck, Thomas (Renee) Buck, Courtenay (Johnny) Gilroy, Jamie Buck and Todd Buck Jr. He was "Bumpa" to great grandchildren Rainey, Taebrey, Grayson and Jaxson. Gerry was predeceased by his parents, brother Douglas Buck, nephew Douglas Buck Jr. and former wife Betty Butler Buck. He was often seen strolling down the road, walking stick in hand, mowing with his Steiner, or in his blaze orange jacket loading his outdoor wood furnace. Those who knew him loved him for his wit and quiet humor. Following his wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family will gather at a later time to celebrate the life of this fantastic father, grandfather and friend.
