Obituary of Guy M. Harris

Guy M. 'Butch' Harris. The angels came and lifted Butch to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 12th 2011, while surrounded by his loving family. Butch was born June 13, 1940 in Avoca, NY to the late Guy and Bernice (Jackson) Harris. He is survived by his wife Phyllis and best friend of 53 years, and sister, Evelyn Goodine of Avoca.

He was predeceased by baby daughter Kimberly Sue; brothers, Arthur and Lawrence Harris and sister Mary Margaret Flewelling.

Survived by favorite sister-in-law and politician buddy Peggy Tobin, also 'special nieces' that brought love and joy into his life are Kimberly Brunquell, Kim Jackson, Kelli Tobin and Becky Walker.

Butch and Phyllis had a great love for kids and opened their home to them all. Butch made a father figure to Daniel L. Coots (predeceased), Jeff Harrison, Kevin Harrison, John (Dorothy) Smith and Becky (Harrison) Walker, that lived with them at different periods of time. He was loved and respected also by his many other nieces, nephews, cousins and his extended family Pete Jelinek (predeceased), John Jelinek and their entire family of Erie, PA.

His hobby and love started at a young age for building and racing stock cars at several race tracks throughout New York State, he also looked forward to every deer season and was an avid nascar race fan.

Arrangements are entrusted to Fagan's Funeral Home, Bath, NY on Sunday November 20th with services from 12:00-3:00 pm. A celebration of his life will follow with Melanie Beardslee officiating.

Burial will be at a later date at Highland Cemetery, Avoca, NY. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory can be made to the Bath Volunteer Ambulance Corps, 110 East Steuben Street, Bath, NY 14810 or a charity of one's choice.
