Obituary of William Charles Paddock

William Charles Paddock passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, September 27th 2012, at the age of 77. He was a resident of Savona, New York. 'Bill' was the son of Arthur James Paddock and Florence Elizabeth Paddock and was born in Bath, New York in 1935. After the age of 13, after his mother's passing, he was raised by his step-mother Mildred Paddock. He attended primary school in Bath and later graduated from Cornell University. While at Cornell, Bill was a member of the Army ROTC and later served as an officer in the Maryland National Guard. Bill retired from the Federal government after more than 30 years of service with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) working as an agricultural economist. While Bill worked for a number of agencies during his Federal service, he particularly enjoyed his final years at the USDA working for the Foreign Agriculture Service, which provided him opportunities for foreign travel. After retiring from the Federal government, Bill worked for 20 years as a special consultant to the U.S. Dairy Export Council.
Bill was active in the Rockville Presbyterian Church in Rockville, Maryland for a number of years and served both as Deacon and an Elder in the congregation. Bill was active in the Boy Scouts throughout his life, and spent several years as a Scoutmaster for Troop 448 in Rockville, Maryland. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was also an active member of the American Legion. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, his dedication to the Washington Redskins, his love of gardening, and his fondness of animals of all kinds. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Andy Mace of Bel Air, Maryland, son and daughter-in-law Arthur and Silvia Paddock of Fairfax, Virginia, sister Ellen Doctor of Potomac, Maryland, sister-in-law Amy Paddock, step-brothers John and Tom Sanford, and beloved grandchildren Conor, Cannon, Allison and Colter Mace and Michael and Patrick Paddock. In addition, Bill was blessed to have many dear and long-term friends whom he shared his life with.
Friends may call on Friday October 5th from 4:00-7:00 pm at Fagan's Funeral Home in Bath. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 6th at 1:00 pm at the funeral home with Reverend Janice Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will be in Nondaga Cemetery, Bath, NY.
