It is with a heavy heart, yet joyful spirit, that I write to the entire Dickson family; for your lives are so intertwined with ours we would not be the same without each other. So, while we're saddened by your loss, there is also a great sense of loss in our family. I hope to adequately express what you all mean to us because we love you all so very much. We first came to Risingville when I was in 7th grade and I had the great privilege of being taught in Sunday School by Dorothy; one of the sweetest, greatest people I've ever known. She taught as least as much by her life as she did through the lesson she taught through the Sunday School curriculum. The admiration I had for Leo goes beyond words. I remember he and I attending a district church meeting and he picked me up in his Caddy - an El Dorado as I recall. We had a great time of fellowship going and returning and I learned so much from him. I loved getting to know and become close with Larry, Phil and Jay and their very special ladies. I admired their commitment to their parents and the family farm. And when Diana and I were starting out and needed help with our first home, I couldn't think of anyone better to turn to so Mom and Dad and I visited Leo and Dorothy at the farm. We are forever grateful. And since I saw Larry and Karen the most at church, we were probably closest to them. Then the grandkids started coming; from Debbie on down. I even tried my best to impart my very basic guitar skills to Tony, sitting on a pew after church. Y'all are so very special. I think the thing for which I am most grateful is the Lord, providentially providing me one last opportunity to see and hug Larry. My brother Butch was in St. Joe's following a stroke and I had a return flight to Texas that was delayed. My sister Mary Lee and I returned to the hospital the following morning and while there, Larry and Karen came to visit. What sweet fellowship it was and I'm forever grateful to have been able to tell them how much I love them and how special they are to me. Thanks to all of you for allowing Diana and I to be a part of your lives and for being part of ours. May the Lord bless you and keep you and fill your hearts with His presence as you go through this difficult time of grieving. May you find the words of the Apostle Paul comforting; that you can be "sorrowful, yet always rejoicing" because of Larry's life well lived and the precious memories he provide all of you and us. We love you!
