I was extremely sad to hear of Jack's passing. I first got to know Jack when I transferred to SP Bath in 1979 as a trooper and always thought of him as a father figure, someone you could talk to and always seemed to have the right answer. My most memorable experience was when he came to my "rescue " when I responded to a brawl at a fireman's carnival I somehow ended up outnumbered by five inebriated family members who turned their aggression towards me. I had called for backup several times but instead of a trooper the first person to respond was ZSgt. Jack Giblin, amazingly the situation immediately calmed down. I continued to work at various stations and eventually came back SP Bath as a sergeant and later as a ZSgt. working side by side with Jack. I will not forget him nor Mary his loving wife.

Dear Giblin family I knew your family when you lived in Batavia. My family lived on LaCrosse Avenue & became friends of your parents. You kids used to come down to our house to visit. My sisters Robin & Chris used to help your Mom & play with you kids. The last time my Mom& I visited with your parents was at Keuka Lake for lunch. We always enjoyed there company. John I live on the Lewiston Rd where do you live in Batavia? So sorry to read about your Dad. My husband was a state trooper also so he knew your Dad.
I read about your Dad’s obituary from an email put out by the state police.
Blessings to all of you. Cheryl Schrader

I got to know Jack and Mary at St. Mary’s where we all sang in the choir. Lots of stories about the real old days, and a wonderful man. Fashioned a cross made out of grape vines that still hangs in my house today. I’m sure he is happy to see his beloved Mary again. My condolences to the family.
